What is the best in Ho Chi Minh?
Is Ho Chi Minh worth visiting?
Absolutely it's worth to see Ho Chi Minh city - one of the biggest and craziest cities in Vietnam beside Hanoi if you want to compare. Things to do : City Tour, Cu Chi tunnel, and Mekong Delta.
Is it worth visiting Cu Chi tunnels?
For a more comprehensive and somber approach to the war, you'll want to carve out time for the War Remnants Museum in Saigon, but the tunnels themselves are absolutely worth a visit in my opinion.
The cultural and political life of Saigon, which became the capital of South Vietnam, was enriched and complicated by an influx of refugees from North Vietnam. During the Second Indochina War (or Vietnam War) in the 1960s and early '70s, Saigon was the headquarters of U.S. military operations.
Ho Chi Minh is generally a safe city, as safe as other similar cities throughout the world. Violent crime is rare, but lately, robberies, assaults, and harassments started occurring, often involving weapons.
Ho Chi Minh has many historically important locations. Home to the War Remnants Museum, the Independence Palace, the intricate system of Cu Chi Tunnels and along with a number of other iconic landmarks, Saigon is perfect for both history buffs and those who need a beginner's lesson on Vietnam's rich past.
Cu Chi Tunnels Tours and Activities
Built by the Viet Cong in the 1940s as protection from French air raids during the Indochina conflict, the Cu Chi Tunnels extend underground for more than 155 miles (250 km) in the vicinity of Ho Chi Minh City alone.
Digging the tunnels
At the total length of 250 kilometres and depth of 10 metres, the systematic network stretched from suburbs of Saigon to the Cambodian border and often passed beneath the American bases.
