Do you need tickets to enter Machu Picchu?
Important: First of all, to access Machu Picchu, you MUST have an entrance ticket purchased in advance…they are NOT sold at the entrance to Machu Picchu. Tickets are usually included as part of any tour or trek to Machu Picchu. Tickets are limited, so it is recommended to book a tour or trek at least a week in advance.
If you want to hike your way to Machu Picchu, you must do it with a tour. However, it is also entirely possible (and quite easy) to visit Machu Picchu on your own, tour-free. This can either be done as a day trip from Cusco or by staying overnight in a neighbouring town and taking a bus or walking up to the ruins.

Restrooms are provided outside the main entry, and for only 2 soles per person, you can use them as frequently as you need to. But if you exit the park to have a go during your tour, you will not be allowed to re-enter with general admission tickets.
