Tossa de Mar is not only in the Costa Brava, but also occupies 14 kilometers (8 miles) off the coast, making it the ultimate “beach city” to visit during summer. A great beach surrounded by the stunning Old Town. It's probably one of the most crowded, but it's still worth a visit.

I spent a week in Tossa and certainly had no problems finding plenty of decent bars and restaurants . It is not Magaluf but it is lively enough.

The main bay is sandy and the boat channels (for the diving boats on Mar Menuda, and for the pedalos and Dofijet on the main beach), curtail longer swims. The main Platja Gran beach shelves quite quickly to a sandy featureless bottom.
Like the majority of Spanish towns and cities, there is a weekly market in Tossa de Mar. It is held every Thursday from 9am to 1pm at Rambla Pau Casals and in the surrounding streets. The local market remains a strong tradition in Spain and you will find a wide range of products there.
